It has been quite a week.? I?ve been going to bed earlier than ever yet getting less sleep.? Our dog had to have some teeth pulled, so there have been a few nights of me on the couch with her that have been pretty restless.
Plus the kids seem to have this internal alarm clock that wakes them up at random hours of the night for no apparent reason, like last night when I stumbled into Ella?s room at 3:30 in the morning for her to say, ?I have a queshion?? (that?s the way it sounds when she says it) There was a long pause while she came up with something to ask me.? Finally, ?Will you give me a kiss and a hug??
It has also been a higher than usual stress level since the winter months are starting to make some little ones?stir crazy.? Needless to say there haven?t been a lot of ?Yes sir, mommy??s lately.? It?s been more of this?
On a brighter note:
One of my most popular posts ever is about the color of Ella?s earmolds.? I hope that my daughter?s bold choice of blue inspired other little girls out there to celebrate their hearing loss and not be embarrassed by it.? I never really gave an update, she gets new earmolds every six months to a year depending on how much she has grown.? Her latest pick?? All her favorite colors swirled into a beautiful rainbow earmold.? Pink, yellow and blue actually turned out with some orange and green in there, too.
During our last visit with the audiologist,?it was?recommended we get Ella new hearing aids.?She got her first pair when she was four months old.
Now that we are able to get a better reading of the tones and frequencies she isn?t hearing a newer model would be able to be programmed to restore more volume to those trouble spots. ?Also, her one hearing aid goes in and out of working, the battery door is currently held shut by a piece of scotch tape.? But current prices have kept us replacing that scotch tape.? $1,200 bucks a piece and most insurances say that hearing aids are??cosmetic? so they don?t usually do much by way of alleviating that price shock.
Then out of the blue, we got a phone call from one of Ella?s speech therapists at school.? The American Legion Auxiliary?had raised $1,000 dollars for a family with a hearing impaired child to help with expenses. ?It?s humbling to be on the receiving end of other people?s charity, but we were so very thankful for this blessing because there was no way we were going to be able to afford that.? So if anyone from the American Legion is reading this, Thank you!!!!!
And in true Ella style when we told her she was going to get a new pair of hearing aids her first question was, ?Ooo, will they sparkle??
